Japanese Car Auctions give buyers direct access to thousands of vehicles across Japan every week, including performance cars, collector vehicles and rare JDM imports.
There is no auctioneer with a hammer, no people shouting or raising hands, the room isn't full of tension, its calm and controlled as the process is digital, fast and ruthlessly efficient.
Across Japan, all the major auction groups collectively process in the region of 200,000 vehicles every single week. That amount of volume only works because the system is well structured and disciplined.
Each vehicle has been inspected, graded and listed before the auction begins, the buyers study the reports and decide what the car is worth and set a bid limit in advance of the live auction.
When the auction slot opens, it moves quickly and its often that a car can be sold in 30 seconds. Bids increase automatically in small increments as buyers from around the world all compete.
That speed is why preparation matters.

How Autoselecta Submits Your Bid
Because of the time zones, your experience through Autoselecta is calm and well structured. You’re not watching a live countdown and you’re never put under any pressure.
You just decide the maximum amount you are prepared to pay for the vehicle and submit that bid on Autoselecta and if you’re outbid on our platform, you’ll be notified and have the option to increase your maximum bid.
Autoselecta uses professional agents to inspect and bid on vehicles through Japanese Car Auctions. Our licensed agent in Japan then represents your bid in real time when the car enters the auction lane.

Placing your maximum bid does not mean that's where the bidding starts
If the auction opens at a lower level and the competition is low, you may secure the car for significantly less than your maximum bid amount, meaning you’ll only ever pay the actual winning hammer price (Including fees) not the full amount you were prepared to bid.
When another buyer is bidding against us, Autoselecta increases the bids in controlled increments, typically equivalent to around £100 a time. We continue to bid until either the car is secured or your maximum limit has been reached.
The objective is simple. Autoselecta secures the car at the lowest possible price.
Reserve Prices and Negotiations
Not every car sells immediately.
Some vehicles carry a reserve price set by the seller and if the bidding stops below that reserve, the car then may not be declared as sold.
This is where one of two things usually happen. The auction house may issue a fixed price offer shortly after the bidding ends. This gives us the opportunity to secure the vehicle at a fixed price or, the car might be relisted in the following weeks auctions.
As frustrating as it seems, it provides us with valuable insight and we now have a clearer idea of the market's appetite for that specific car. In many cases, we might recommend a slight increase in your bid limit to improve the chances of winning the car.
Why This Structure Works
The Japanese system rewards buyers who understand value and those who act decisively, no high emotions needed here!
Here at Autoselecta, your only role is to determine what the car is worth to you and our role is to execute that strategy efficiently and professionally each and every time.
• The preparation is what wins it.
• You’ll never be pushed beyond your limit.
• You’ll never be in the middle of a bidding frenzy.
• You are never committed to bid more than you have approved.
• The preparation and research is the winning formula.
